Do you know what kids love these days? Minecraft! My little cousins can't stop talking about it. They say words I'm not even familiar with: bedrock, creeper, sandstone! When I was asked to make a Minecraft cake, I asked their suggestions and opinion and they were so happy to be involved! And then I decided to involve them more by making Minecraft cupcakes with them!
I found this decorating recipe online and it seems so easy! I don't have to worry about making a mess with the kids!
Start with any cupcakes as the base. But I recommend baking chocolate cupcakes to give the cupcakes the “dirt or soil” part of Minecraft. Also, you should bake the cupcakes into squares, so a square pan in needed. You don't have to buy square cupcake liners. Regular ones will do too!
Then, for the grass, you will need grass piping tips, three shades of green food color, and of course, buttercream frosting. There's no right way to do this because you just have to pipe the different shades of green and create that pixel illusion just like from the game. Once done, go ahead and make the Minecraft characters. You can actually pipe these too, but since we're looking for something easy, you can just use Laffy Taffy and Tootsie Rolls.
You can do other Minecraft characters as well. At least you have a good starting point. Ask kids which design they would like to make! This would be a fun activity with the kids and of course, a cute party treats for everyone!
