Sugar cookies are a must during the holidays! I know this because that's what I do! I bake lots of Christmas sugar cookies for friends and families and it's enough to last the entire Christmas Day! But when I came across this recipe I thought, “Why aren't we doing this instead?” I know sugar cookies are sort of a Christmas tradition, but it won't hurt to try these candy cane cupcakes, right?
These cupcakes are your new kind of Christmas tradition! The cupcakes are very moist and flavorful. There is enough peppermint flavor in the cupcakes, but if you'd like it to have a stronger flavor, feel free to increase the amount. Then, they are made even better with a delicious vanilla cream cheese frosting. You can skip the coloring and keep its color. Finally, sprinkle with crushed candy canes.
Since these cupcakes are called “candy cane”, it's composed of two colors: red and white. Another way to add these candy cane colors is to not color the batter, and mix in crushed candy canes instead.
