Every year, I make it a tradition to bake pumpkin cupcakes for the holidays. I also make it a point to try different recipes each year. And for this year, these brown butter pumpkin cupcakes are my star!
Brown butter is a process of cooking the butter long enough to toast the milk solids found in the butter. You are going to cook the butter just a tiny bit past the melting point. Doing this will create a delicious nutty flavor that is perfect for when baking pastries. The brown butter will bring out the flavor of the pumpkin and all the spices added to the batter. These cupcakes are moist, soft, and absolutely flavorful. They are then topped with a salted caramel frosting that is made with homemade salted caramel! Finally, top them off with more of the salted caramel sauce and you're good to go! If you'd like a bit of spice flavor on top, you can sprinkle them with ground cinnamon.
