I've had a German chocolate cake before and I absolutely loved it. I've never baked one, so I figured it would be better it if we're in cupcake form. Luckily, I found this super easy recipe online which will definitely remind you of your first German chocolate cake experience!
In case you're wondering, a German chocolate cake is a layered chocolate cake that is filled and topped with a coconut and pecan frosting. As for this recipe, we're going to cut it down to a cupcake size and also into just four cupcakes!
Start with chocolate cupcakes as the base. They are moist, soft, and have a strong chocolate flavor. Then, they are topped with a delicious coconut and pecan frosting. Finally, garnish with chopped pecans!
Since German chocolate cake is traditionally filled with the coconut and pecan frosting, you can fill each cupcake with that as well. Additionally, a chocolate frosting is spread on the sides of some cakes. If you'd like, you can also do that for additional flavor!
